The parents should be heard "soon" by investigators from the juvenile brigade of the Grenoble police station, said the public prosecutor Eric Vaillant. “The mother would have left around 11 am to go shopping and the father would have left for work around 11:30 am. A priori, the mother had to come home before the husband left but was a little late. The children were therefore not supposed to be left alone, ”added the prosecutor.

Filmed by a neighbor living in the residence opposite, the scene was widely covered by the media and on social networks. The fall, from a height of about twelve meters, is impressive. As thick black smoke emerges from the apartment windows and locals scream in fear, we first see the older child hanging the younger in the air, holding him by his clothes, before to let go.

Children hospitalized but not in danger

At the foot of the facade, witnesses recover him by bending under his weight and shortly after, the other child jumps into their arms. The two children were taken to hospital and are “under observation, but their vital prognosis was not engaged. They should be released from the hospital quickly, ”said Éric Vaillant. Samples were taken by the scientific police to determine the origin of the fire, which "would be in the living room". A total of fourteen people were poisoned by the smoke fumes and two firefighters were slightly injured.
