At least twelve cases have been identified. In Haute-Savoie, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes began a Covid-19 screening campaign after the discovery of a cluster (source of contamination) probably appeared during a gathering family in Annecy on July 14, said the ARS on Thursday. According to France Bleu Pays de Savoie, the outbreak would originate from a wedding organized on a boat on Lake Annecy.

Investigations carried out by the “contact tracing” cell of the ARS began a week ago following the diagnosis of a first positive case on July 16. They made it possible to identify a chain of 90 other potentially infected people, who were invited to carry out a screening test and to observe isolation with the strictest respect for barrier gestures.

Following the tests, twelve new people have already been confirmed positive. “Among them, one person is hospitalized in intensive care outside the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in his region of origin”, indicates the ARS.

“One of them went to a children's community in Saint-Eustache. These are 28 people (children and supervisory staff) who are affected by this new chain of contamination, which does not at this stage constitute a new cluster, ”she explains. A new series of investigations is underway around the 12 newly confirmed cases to identify other people who may have been potentially infected.
