This earthquake is the third earthquake of magnitude 6 or above in my country this year, and it is also the largest earthquake of the year. The average elevation within 5 kilometers of the epicenter is about 5270 meters, and the nearby population is extremely sparse.

According to data, Nima, which means "sun" in Tibetan, is located in the northwestern part of Nagqu region of Tibet Autonomous Region, with an average altitude of more than 5,000 meters, which is an earthquake-prone area. The county has 1 town and 13 townships under its jurisdiction, with a total area of more than 70,000 square kilometers and a population of about 30,000. The north is a large area of no man's land.
