The Covid-19 epidemic has killed seven people since Tuesday in hospitals, the Directorate General of Health announced on Wednesday. In total, 19,656 people died in hospitals and 10,516 in social and medico-social establishments (Ehpad) where the general toll was revised downwards yesterday.

Out of 6,366 people currently hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection, 445 patients are in intensive care, 10 less than Tuesday. Four regions (Ile-de-France, Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France and Guyana) account for 69% of patients hospitalized in intensive care.

Homes still active

Since May 9, 561 grouped cases (clusters) have been detected but 349 closed, notes the DGS, bringing to 212 the number of outbreaks still active on July 22, including 14 new outbreaks since the day before. A "cluster" is defined by the occurrence of at least three confirmed or probable cases, within a period of seven days, which belong to the same community or have participated in the same gathering.

SOS Médecins carried out 283 interventions in twenty-four hours for suspected Covid-19, or 3.6% of the total activity, the emergency services noted 198 passages for the same reason, or 0.6% of the total activity.
