Recently, British Foreign Secretary Raab announced in the lower house of parliament that Britain will suspend the extradition agreement with Hong Kong and prohibit the export of related weapons to Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today (21st) expressed strong opposition to this and criticized the British move as a double-standard political operation and a serious violation of international law and basic norms of international relations.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government pointed out that every country has laws to safeguard its national security and sovereignty, which is where it is responsible. The UK also has many related laws. For political purposes, the United Kingdom unilaterally suspended the surrender of fugitive offenders agreement with Hong Kong under the pretext of enacting the Hong Kong National Security Law. This is a double-standard political operation, which seriously violates international law and the basic norms of international relations. It is willing to allow criminals to evade legal sanctions. However, the United Kingdom may become a place where some people wanted in Hong Kong try to evade legal responsibility. The United Kingdom must explain this to the rule of law and the international community. (Headquarters reporter Zhou Weiqi Jindong)
