Initially scheduled from September 11 to 13 at La Courneuve park, in Seine-Saint-Denis, the "Fête de l'Huma" was canceled due to fears about the coronavirus epidemic.

The Fête de l'Humanité, initially scheduled for September 11-13 at La Courneuve park (Seine-Saint-Denis), has been canceled and will be replaced by several cultural initiatives on the same dates in Ile-de-France, announced Monday Patrick The Hyaric, the newspaper's director. "Health, financial and legal risks force us to give up holding a Party, even a small one, at La Courneuve park. We are going to work on an event of a different nature for this same weekend," says Patrick Le Hyaric on the Humanity website, organizer of the party of the same name.

"The ban on holding concerts, the wearing of a mandatory mask, the signs of a resumption of the epidemic create a lot of uncertainty about the value, in September, of a permit given today, especially since the Fête is located in the heart of a dense urban area ", justifies the director of Humanity.

"A support voucher at the price of 25 euros, 5 euros of which will be donated to Secours populaire"

To hold the event in a reduced format, "two million euros would be necessary, increased by 100,000 euros of expenses related to the implementation of the health protocol", details Patrick Le Hyaric for whom these expenses "raise fears of a significant deficit "for the newspaper," always under the constraint of a plan of 'recovery-continuation' ".

In order to cover the costs already incurred - close to 500,000 euros - and "in support of humanity", the newspaper will launch "a support voucher at the price of 25 euros, of which 5 euros will be donated to Secours populaire". The Fête de l'Huma will be replaced by "cultural initiatives, major debates, acts of international solidarity, statements by actors from social, citizen and cultural movements, in various places in the Paris region", which will be "relayed on a dedicated digital platform".
