84 years ago since the start of the Civil War in Spain. It has rained a lot in that period of time: movies, stories, stories, books ... To date, hundreds of works have been written - some more conservative, others more progressive - to relate what happened, but none has been done - think about it - in small text squares of 280 characters. None, in short, in tweet format : "7/17/1936: Franco arrives at Las Palmas at dawn, along with his wife and daughter, under the pretext of attending the funeral of General Balmes at 8:30"

That was the approach that in late 2017 led a Spanish historian, Daniel Rodríguez , to become a Twitter user, convinced of the potential of Twitter "to reach people" and "disclose." He organized, ordered the story and decided, after having thought it over, to tell the Civil War chronologically . Day after day, without rest, political and warlike contents have been published in his network account: the events that occurred between 1936 -and even earlier, publishing context- and 1939 and that ended up marking the century.

He contacted EL MUNDO this Monday to find out his history and the details of his account, coinciding with the 84th anniversary of the start of the Civil War in Spain. It's called 'GuerraCivil en tuit', it currently has more than 34,000 followers and, over time, it has been renewing, shaping and, above all, improving. In three years, Daniel has had time to recount the conflict, write a book gathering the information and start the whole process over again: "At the beginning of this year I thought about republishing it because the account had gained so much more impact."

Daniel's account is full of photographs accompanied by a concise, concise and aseptic text . At no time does he present his assessment or idea about what happened: "I treat the account in a very neutral way, and the tweets do not enter into analysis or opinions, but ' this day happened '". The issues, in this sense, have been dealt with respecting both sides, including, for example, "repression in the rear of the Republic as well as in the rear of the rebel side," or "bombardment on one side and the other."

That has helped him, by the way, to have zero complaints in all this time. Perhaps, she says, "two or three," because the most she gets wet is saying that her sources tend to be "more progressive" than conservative. More Paul Preston than Pío Moa . Most of the content "is taken from newspapers of the time, ABC or La Vanguardia, and from the official parts of war of the Franco and Republican army" and the interpretation does not lead to error. In short, it is about using primary sources and publications of the time: newspapers and photographs.

The final discovery is that you like that mix of conciseness and powerful images. Above all, to young Internet users : "Before doing so, I thought that young people were not very interested, but many have written to me telling me their ideas and I have seen that there are more young people than I thought interested in these topics."
