Great Swedish artists in classical music such as Anne Sofie von Otter, Martin Fröst and Malin Broman play music in the culture house in Ytterjärna for just over a week.

- It is a mostly digital festival, says Peter Friis Johansson. You can go on digital walks in the festival area, watch rehearsals, visit masterclasses and ask questions to both the teacher and the student, pianist and one of the artistic leaders of the festival.

The theme for this year's festival is "You beautiful new world". The concerts are interspersed with conversations about how people relate to a time where much changes.

"A kind of community service"

Jakob Koranyi, cellist and the other of the two artistic leaders of the festival, hopes that the festival will be a forum for the conversations he thinks are needed at this time.

- I hope that this festival will be a kind of community service in the end, it may sound presumptuous, but I hope so, says Jakob Koranyi.

He believes that classical music can show the revolutionary changes that have taken place earlier in history and in this way provide perspective on the present. One of the guest musicians is the clarinetist Martin Fröst.

- It feels great, great fun, says Martin Fröst. I think the theme also sounded exciting: "You beautiful new world".

"A whole new world"

Like most other musicians, he has seen many of this year's concerts canceled.

- It has been very set for the autumn as well, says Martin Fröst. It will be a completely new world for better or worse. I think this pandemic will fundamentally change classical music.

The festival Järna Festival Academy takes place July 17-25 in the culture house in Ytterjärna.
