Proposal to establish a new department for regular high school. Ministry of Education aims to solve regional issues. July 18, 5:21.

For ordinary high schools, where many students attend, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has proposed a way to set up new departments aimed at solving problems facing local communities and modern society.

Today, 70% of high school students nationwide attend regular high schools, which have never been reorganized since 1948, the postwar period.

However, it has been pointed out that it is not possible to meet the challenges because the content of education is uniform while diverse students attend.

Therefore, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has proposed to the Central Education Council, which is the advisory board of the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, to reorganize the existing ordinary courses and establish new ones.

Specifically, it envisions "interdisciplinary learning subjects" that aim to solve contemporary issues, and "learning subjects that aim to solve problems in the local community" that tackle local issues.

In these new departments, we will collaborate with universities, local governments, and companies to enable more practical lessons.

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology intends to aim to revise the ministerial ordinance at the earliest this fiscal year, taking into consideration the discussions in the middle school hearing.
