A boy, 10, was injured today, Friday, after a shark pulled him off a fishing boat, about five kilometers off the northwest coast of Tasmania, Australia.
The boy had injuries to the arm, head and chest, after a shark dragged him into the water before his father jumped into the water and rescued him from the shark's teeth, according to an ambulance service on Tasmania Island in a statement.
"The boy's father jumped into the water, and at that point the shark was swimming," the ambulance service added.
The statement added that the boy, who was wearing a life jacket, was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Shark attacks in Tasmania are rare. This is the fourth shark attack this month in Australia, as there have been at least ten known shark attacks in the country this year.
On Tuesday, a woman was injured in a shark attack on an island near the Great Barrier Reef. She was on her day off after filming a documentary on sharks, when she was attacked.
A 15-year-old boy was killed on Saturday in a shark attack, while he was surfing on Woolley Beach near Grafton in eastern Australia.
