Naoki Akira's "Boys and Dogs" are selected for the Naoki Award 16:13 on July 15th

The 163rd Akutagawa Prize and Naoki Prize selection meeting was held in Tokyo, and Shusei Enjou's "boy and dog" was selected for the Naoki Prize.

Mr. Shu Hoshi, who has been awarded the Naoki Prize, is 55 years old from Hokkaido. After working at a publishing company, he became a writer after becoming a freelance writer, and mainly works on the theme of deception and betrayal of human beings who deal with evil and crime, including his debut work "Fujojo" in 1996. I have announced a number of topical works.

This is the seventh time for the Naoki Prize, and it has won the first prize 23 years after becoming the first candidate in "Fuyajo."

The award-winning "Shonen and Dog" is a series of short stories consisting of six works featuring the same dog who lost its owner after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The life of the people who brought this dog home and the interaction between the dog and the person in a language that is not understood are carefully drawn, and the title work recorded at the end reveals the mystery of this dog's behavior ..

Mr. Ken, who currently lives with two dogs, is also known as a dog lover, and it means that living with dogs was a reference for making works.

At the interview held before the selection meeting, Mr. Ken said, “For me, dogs are an irreplaceable family and give free love. Through the works, we compare human stupidity with dog purity. I wanted to draw the soul connection between humans and dogs.”
