Officials in the United States said yesterday that the body, which was recovered from a lake in California, is the actress Naya Rivera, one of the stars of the famous series "Jelly".

"We are sure, now, that the body that was found is the body of Naya Rivera," said the police chief of Ventura County, California, at a press conference on the bank of Lake Peru near Los Angeles.

The authorities had said, last week, that they believed Naya Rivera, 33, who had disappeared since last Wednesday, had sunk after renting a boat on Lake Peru near Los Angeles with her son Josie (four years), who was found safe. The son told investigators that he and his mother went swimming together in Lake Peru, and that Rivera had helped him return to the boat before it disappeared underwater, according to the Ventura provincial police chief.

The police chief indicated that the authorities did not suspect a crime or suicide, and that Rivera's family had been informed, adding that the body had been transferred to the forensic office, to conduct an autopsy and formally identify through dental records.

For six years Rivera performed the character of Santana Lopez in the series "Glee", which is one of the most successful musical series in the world, and spanned for six seasons, from 2009 to 2015.

Naya Rivera, 33, has disappeared since last Wednesday.

The authorities do not suspect a crime or suicide.
