Gaoligong Mountain, located in the west of Yunnan Province, is rich in animal and plant resources and is a key area of terrestrial biodiversity with global significance.
There are 17% of higher plants in the country, of which 7.72% are endemic species. It also concentrates 20% of mammals in the country, of which 1/3 are endemic species. In addition, it also has 28 species of amphibians, 48 species of reptiles, 300-500 species of birds, and more than 1,600 kinds of insects, known as the "World Species Gene Bank".
