"Unconscious", "irresponsible", "desperate" ... Anger is rumbling since the dissemination of images on social networks, the open air concert of The Avener in Nice Saturday evening. Organized from the Bellanda tower, the event attracted several thousand people to the Promenade des Anglais, but did not shine by its respect for barrier gestures, as evidenced by a video from a correspondent for Today in France - The Parisian .

Compact crowd, lack of social distancing, absence of masks ... The images of the concert raise many questions, and worry about the possibility of a second wave.

No more than 5,000 people

Contacted by BFMTV, the town hall of Nice explained that it had followed the regulations: “We have respected the limit of 5,000 [people] set by the prefecture via a counting system. In a defined space or in normal times we put 36,000 people ”. Likewise, the municipality claims to have disposed of "audio panels and messages [which] reminded the barrier gestures to be respected in the event of non-distancing".

Same story from the side of the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes Bernard Gonzalez, as reported by Nice-Matin . " Hethere is no freedom without responsibility. We were in an open air place, there are well over 5,000 people on the Promenade and the Croisette every day. (…) We would have needed several thousand police officers to verify the wearing of the mandatory mask. Dissipating a small group in real time can be much more dangerous than delivering messages on the respect of barrier gestures, ”he believes.
