[Commentary] On the afternoon of July 11th, Yunnan folk old craft documentary photography "Handicraftsman" was launched at Wenlin Art Museum in Kunming, and it is free to the public.

[Explanation] "Artisan" was returned from studying at the University of Leeds in the UK, and the Dai girl from the 90s in Yunnan, Qingfeng Yan, spent four years visiting Lincang, Tengchong, Dali and other places in Yunnan to collect records in the form of images and text. It truly reproduces the unique skills, survival status and ingenuity of traditional craftsmen such as folk potter, paper maker, umbrella maker, sugar maker and wood carving man in southwestern China.

Recording these traditional crafts that are on the verge of disappearing, they may not be so commercialized, and they are not so widely circulated, but I think they need to be seen by others.

[Explanation] Feng Qingyan expressed that he hopes to attract more people to join in through the exhibition. With the concept of "photographic archives", some traditional skills that are on the verge of disappearing or difficult to be known by outsiders are preserved in the form of images. Let more Yunnan folk old crafts "go out" and attract more people to pay attention to its cultural value.

I went to a township in Yunnan province to interview these craftsmen, to modify the pictures, to design the entire exhibition hall, she did it by herself, and many of them were done by herself, so I I still admire her.

If young people can make some records of traditional crafts, it will also contribute to the inheritance of culture. All the friends around us are infected by her and will do something to work hard for their dreams.

[Commentary] In addition to attracting audiences from inside and outside of Yunnan Province, the exhibition "punched". Some teachers and alumni of the University of Leeds, University of Glasgow, and University of Sultan Kashmu also paid attention to the exhibition online.

The work that impressed me the most is "Craftsman". Because this work has done a lot of research, the field implementation is also good. Moreover, plus I am a fan of documentary photography, I can see that she did a lot of interviews and portraits in this work. The research after the project was also done very well.

[Concurrent period] Omer, lecturer, University of Kasmu

I saw "100 Strangers" in 2016. I always think this work is great. Later I saw "Artisan", I think this work carries a lot of things. I think this will be a turning point in her career.
