In art, the body of women was depicted without hair until the middle of the 19th century. Which inscribes in the collective imagination that attractive bodies must be hairless.

From the beginning of the 20th century, women will have the opportunity to conform to this image. In 1915, the first women's razor was created. And, little by little, the hairs disappear: the armpits with the advent of fashion photography, the hairs of the legs after the Second World War then the hairs of the bikini line.

In the 60s and 70s, some feminist groups claimed hair, but the majority of women continued to depilate. And even today, when a woman or a star claims not to, it provokes hostility and hateful comments.
