Research on the actual condition of aftereffects of the new type corona Targeting 2000 people Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare 15:12 on July 10

Even after being discharged from the hospital after being infected with the new coronavirus and becoming negative, there are cases where symptoms such as dyspnea persist, so the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will start a study to investigate the actual state of aftereffects from next month.

Regarding people infected with the new coronavirus, many people continue to have fever and malaise for several months even after becoming negative and leaving the hospital, and their daily life is disturbed due to deterioration of respiratory function and exercise capacity. It has become clear at home and abroad.

Under such circumstances, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Kato revealed at a conference on October 10 that he will start a study to investigate the actual condition of aftereffects from next month.

The study will target approximately 2000 people who became infected with the novel coronavirus and subsequently became negative.

Of these, we will examine the effects on respiratory function of people aged 20 and over who were severely oxygenated, and ask those who had mild symptoms what kind of symptoms continue after recovery.

After that, I would like to identify items common to people with persistent illness such as basic disease and age, find out what people are more likely to have aftereffects, and use it for treatment and prevention after discharge.

The research is scheduled to continue until the end of March next year, and Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Kato said, "I would like to disseminate the research results to the public."
