At 5 pm on July 9th, the Shexian College Entrance Examination was delayed by a day. On this day, She County, which was plagued by Mei Yu for many days, finally ushered in a sunny day, the sun was shining, and the flood waters receded.

On July 7th, She County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province encountered a flood disaster that occurred once in 50 years due to heavy rain. By 9 a.m., more than 2,000 college entrance examination candidates from the county only reached more than 500 people. The language and math subjects of Shexian test center were forced to be postponed until the 9th.

The last exam is math. Half an hour before the test papers, parents have blocked the road outside the examination room.

A mother ran several flower shops before buying a bunch of flowers—because many shops were flooded. Sunflowers were sold out at the earliest, because they symbolized a bright future.

The 2020 college entrance examination is quite special for them, first because the new coronary pneumonia epidemic was delayed by a month, and then encountered a flood, pushing the college entrance examination one day later.

In the early morning of July 8, many parents sent their children to the test room at 6 o'clock because of the fear of the second flood. The armed police officers and men built two pontoons overnight and prepared 30 assault boats to prevent the worst. On the 7th, the Shexian No. 2 Middle School Examination Room, where the water was serious, was aimed at candidates, teachers and parents.

At 10:30 on July 7, Wang Jie (pseudonym) received a call from his son and canceled the morning exam. Their family is in Tunxi District, adjacent to She County. She got up at 6 o'clock that day and planned to go to She County to see her children. She also put on red cheongsam and planned to buy pizza for her children. But she got the news that "the traffic from Tunxi to She County has been interrupted." The son said that the morning exam was cancelled. She wanted to say something encouraging to him, but she cried when she said, and the child comforted her in turn: "Don't worry, don't worry, this is good."

Jin Ling (pseudonym), the grocery store owner of Pingan Road, remembers that the water started to rise from 4 o'clock in the morning, and the 1-meter-high smoke cabinet filled half the water.

In the afternoon, the school once again notified that the Mathematics College Entrance Examination was postponed, and the students returned to the classroom for review, and the teacher comforted them, "This may be a lucky thing.

In this historic city, famous for the location of the ancient Huizhou capital city, education has always been a sign. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were 623 jinshis here, and Tao Xingzhi, a famous modern educator, also grew up here.

On July 8, the flood waters receded. On a forest floor at the entrance of No. 2 Middle School in She County, rows of trees fell from east to west. In a kindergarten, ocean balls were scattered everywhere, and gas tanks were flushed to the wall 50 meters away from the classroom. In the Huishang Mansion, a tourist attraction, the flood of the previous day had “stuck” the throats of two stone lions at the door, and an ancient painting hanging on the wall was swollen with water. Almost every household is cleaning up silt and garbage.

At the end of the first day of the exam, Wang Jie bought enough pizza for four people and sent it to the school dormitory. She joked with her son: "Your 20 years have been more splendid than the rest of your life. SARS, the Olympic Games, the New Coronary Pneumonia epidemic, and flooding have all happened. It will be wonderful to write memoirs in the future."

Some students worry about things other than the exam. At noon on July 8th, when returning to school by the bus that the school uniformly picked up and dropped, a student passed the door of the house and saw that the storefront in the house was washed away and was in a mess. That night, the student made four consecutive phone calls home. Parents wanted to hide this news from their children, but the children stubbornly asked about the loss in the family and finally comforted them that "life safety is more important than property."

On the evening of July 8, a senior high school teacher in Shexian Middle School told reporters from China Youth Daily that the student's mental state was much better than the previous day. "There are no parents calling specifically to reflect the problem."

At 5 pm on July 9th, the last college entrance examination mathematics test in She County ended. Zhang Li and his classmates took a bus and returned to the school to pack their luggage. He just wanted to get home quickly and get a good night's sleep. Some people lamented, "the holiday is one day short."
