The sale of one of his paintings regularly exceeds one million euros, or even much more. So when the artist, master of the dark, decides to donate some of his works, it is an event.

Pierre Soulages and his wife Colette decided to bequeath several paintings to the Rodez museum which bears their name.

“The museum will receive five paintings on canvas marking their time from 1949 to the most recent, as well as 17 paintings on paper. Added to them is the vase made by the Manufacture de Sèvres and presented to the museum this July, ”said the Midi-Pyrénées regional prefecture in a press release.
