The investigation continues, almost a month after the violence that marked the Grésilles district, in Dijon, and Chenôve, in the near suburbs, from June 12 to 15. Five other people were arrested, said AFP on Thursday. Four of them were placed in police custody.

These arrests are in addition to the eleven people already sentenced at the end of June for drug trafficking or "crime of participation with a weapon in a crowd by a person deliberately concealing his face". In the same investigation, two other people were indicted on July 2, in particular for "participation in a criminal association with a view to committing aggravated violence". These two people were placed under judicial supervision.

A matter of revenge

All of the arrests were made during or following arms searches. The violence had taken place in mid-June after a series of reprisals launched by members of the Chechen community, who wanted to take revenge on the assault of a teenager whom they blame on dealers in the Grilles.

In the investigation into these facts, six Chechens were arrested on Thursday June 18. Two were dismissed. The other four were indicted, including three placed in pre-trial detention. The fourth suspect remained free under judicial supervision.
