As the water level continued to rise rapidly, the three-hole flood discharge opened at 10:00 on the same day increased to five-hole flood discharge at 12:00, and the rainfall intensity at multiple stations in the city exceeded 1 hour and 30 millimeters.

It is reported that the flood discharge will affect a population of 300,000 in eight townships (streets) in the downstream, and this is the seventh time that the Xin'anjiang Reservoir has opened its flood gate for the seventh time in 61 years. As of 12:00 on the 7th, Xinanjiang Reservoir has opened a total of 5 spillholes 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 with a maximum discharge flow of 3,000 cubic meters per second.

Xin'anjiang Reservoir is China's first large-scale hydropower station with self-designed and self-made equipment. It is also the world's first hydropower station that utilizes plant roof overflow. There are 9 flood gates and 9 flood holes. Each hole has a net width of 13 meters and a height of 15 meters. When the floodgate was opened, the floodwater was ejected through the rectangular tooth ridge at the top of the power plant, and it fell into the river after flying about 100 meters from the air, which can avoid the impact on the bottom of the dam.

It is reported that since entering May on May 29, the Xin'an River Basin has encountered eight consecutive rounds of heavy rainfall. As of 12:00 on the 7th, the rainfall in Xin'an River Basin was 938 millimeters, exceeding the annual average of 133.7%, the incoming water was 7.257 billion cubic meters, the reservoir water level was 107.46 meters, and the over-flood limit water level was 0.96 meters.
