Osprey 6 pm First 1 aircraft to Kisarazu garrison tentative deployment July 6 4:12

A new transport aircraft, the Osprey, will be introduced to the Ground Self-Defense Force, and the first one will arrive at Kisarazu Garrison in Chiba Prefecture on the afternoon of the 6th, and provisional deployment will begin. The Ministry of Defense is aiming for deployment at Saga Airport in Saga Prefecture as originally planned, but at this point in time there is no forecast.

The Ministry of Defense is planning to deploy 17 Osprey aircraft to be introduced to the Ground Self-Defense Force at Saga Airport, but due to lack of discussions with the local community, it will be provisionally deployed at Kisarazu Garrison. ..

The first two aircraft were unloaded at the U.S. Army Iwakuni base in Yamaguchi prefecture this May, and have undergone maintenance, but one of them is scheduled to fly to the Kisarazu garrison on the afternoon of the 6th. Then, provisional deployment will begin.

Another one will arrive on the 10th of this month.

According to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, after about a month or so to inspect the aircraft in detail, we will check the operation of the engine on the ground, and we have not decided when to start flying.

In addition, considering that there are strong concerns about safety in the local areas, we are planning to gradually expand from the basic training in the garrison to where to fly.

The Ministry of Defense has set a provisional deployment target within 5 years and aims to deploy it at Saga Airport as originally planned, but negotiations with the landowner are necessary, and the construction period for subsequent facilities has not been fixed. For this reason, there is no forecast for the moment at this time.
