Kate Middleton's brother James - Landmark / Starface

James Middleton, brother of Kate Middleton, is a passionate beekeeper. His attraction to bees dates back to childhood and he quickly wanted to make it his business. A dream made possible by all his family.

"My mother, my father as well as my sisters Catherine and Pippa came together to buy me what was the most beautiful birthday present I could imagine," he recalled during an interview with the Daily Mail. A delivery truck arrived with a large box buzzing with the inscription “Bees alive” on it. Inside there was the nucleus - the base - of my colony: 1,000 Buckfast bees. "

A way to meditate

A decade later, the Duchess of Cambridge's brother st led a colony of 500,000 specimens. And if he takes great care of his bees, they give him back. Suffering from depression, James Middleton feels at peace as he navigates between his hives.

Many of you know I am passionate about dogs 🐾, but not many know I am almost as passionate about bees 🐝. I have ten hives at Bucklebury & I'm fascinated by the little creatures. From their waggle dance to the queen laying her own body weight in eggs a day… there'sa lot to be said about these humble little creatures. In a worker bees life she will produce just 1 / 10th of a teaspoon of honey- think of how many bees are needed for one jar 🍯. But that's not it. Bee keeping to me is a meditation 🧘‍♂️ it's a chance to escape my mind and be so consumed by something that hours can pass by without knowing it. Meditation is a wonderful tool to help with stress, anxiety, depression and doesn't just need to be practiced sitting down! 🧘‍♂️ 🏃‍♂️ 🚶‍♂️. Lastly honey. Honey is one of natures finest medicines. From antibacterial properties, aiding digestion, hay fever, colds, energy and even as cure for sleeping disorders the list goes on. I have a teaspoon of honey every day and couldn't recommend it more 🍯. So as this little homage to the honest little honey be ends remember raw local honey is best & yes I do get stung all the time but its worth it! 🐝 ❤️. #beekeeping #rawhoney #bees #savethebees #beesofinstagram #honeyisthebestmedicine #wildflowerhoney #meditation #activemeditation #mentalhealth #mindfulness #mentalhealthawareness

"For me, beekeeping is a meditation," he explained. It's a way to get away from it all and be so focused that hours go by without me noticing. Meditation is a wonderful tool for stress, anxiety, depression and it does not need to be practiced while sitting! At first glance, being in the middle of half a million bees does not seem to be the most relaxing situation, but it seems that James Middleton really found peace in the midst of his hives.
