MOST WANTED PLACES FOR HOLIDAYS
Most of the Spanish will spend the summer within our borders. By region, Andalusia is the favorite (with 33.14%), followed by the Balearic Islands (9.78%), the Valencian Community (9.24%), Catalonia (8.69%), Asturias (6.52%) , Aragon (6.51%), Galicia (5.97%), Cantabria (5.43%), the Canary Islands (4.35%) and the Basque Country (2.18%), according to the consultancy DNA Turismo y Ocio.
In this sense, travel portals have registered a 200% increase in their bookings in recent weeks to avoid leaving the country. In the case of Destinia, one of the largest online travel agencies , its users show a predilection for beach places such as Benidorm (Alicante), Salou (Tarragona), Peñíscola (Castellón), Lloret de Mar (Gerona), Torremolinos (Málaga) , Benalmádena (Málaga), Gandía (Valencia) or Mojácar (Almería). For this reason, Ricardo Fernández, CEO of the company, is clear that tourism is not dead. "It is here, we are here. This sector has always shown an intrinsic resilience and now, with the pandemic, it is doing it again."
IN SEARCH OF SUN, BEACH AND ... THE VILLAGE OF ALL LIFE
Another of the reference tourism websites, Rumbo, also sees how reservations multiply throughout the country, prioritizing rural tourism and coastal destinations. He agrees that the favorites are enclaves such as Benidorm, Torremolinos or Salou, while others such as Mallorca, Lanzarote, Ibiza or Tenerife stand out when it comes to succeeding in online searches. Even so, there are also those who prefer to rediscover cities such as Seville, Malaga , Madrid, Valencia or Barcelona due to its cultural and leisure offer during the summer.
GREAT COMMITMENT TO RURAL TOURISM
The search for isolated corners and surrounded by nature where running away from possible masses has been the main reason for rural tourism to have experienced a 122% increase in reserves during the last weeks, according to the portal specialized in this sector, Rural Getaway . By communities, Andalusia, Catalonia and Madrid bring together the highest percentage of requests, with 32%, 21% and 9% respectively. "These data are very positive, since, after the closure of the establishments and a logical drop in activity, in just one week we have reached figures very close to those prior to the crisis," says Ana Alonso, director of Communication for the portal .

TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION FAVORITE
Regarding the type of accommodation, 31.9% of Spaniards opt for the hotel / hostel (31.9%), while 20.9% prefer a tourist apartment. Then there would be the second home (18.8%), family homes (8.6%), camping and motorhomes (2.05%) and other options (3.6%). Reasons? "Many families who have a flat on the beach and rented it in July or August now want to enjoy it themselves, so there is less supply and the price goes up, " says José María Basañez, president of the company. The average price would go from 200 euros a week for a flat in Lugo to 2,800 in Menorca.
