Stadsteatern institutes a prize in memory of Benny Fredriksson

The Benny Prize is instituted by Kulturhuset Stadsteatern and Anne Sofie von Otter, who was married to Benny Fredriksson, former CEO and theater manager.

Benny Fredriksson passed away in March 2018. On July 2, Fredriksson would have turned 61.

“Benny's curiosity and passion for his profession and his role as a cultural worker was outstanding and wonderful. He gave everything with incessant enthusiasm. We want to give our Benny Prize to someone who shares his love for the art and who has the ability to reach out with the obvious and fearlessness he did, "says Anne Sofie von Otter in a press release from Kulturhuset Stadsteatern.

The Benny Prize of SEK 100,000 is intended to encourage “eagerness and creativity” and is to be awarded each year to one or more people who want to reach out broadly with their creation.

The first distribution will take place later this summer, when the winner of the year will also be announced.
