The National Syndicate of Discotheques and Places of Leisure (SNDLL) as well as several managers of Parisian nightclubs contest the government decree of June 21, which obliges their establishments to remain closed. The hearing before the Council of State concerning their complaint is scheduled for this Thursday afternoon. The court will render its decision a few days later, according to information from Capital .

The complainants initially wanted to be able to resume their activity on July 10, as they recalled during a public action Wednesday. They believe that the reopening of their sector is possible without their customers taking the risk of being contaminated by the coronavirus. Night professionals had also proposed health protocols to apply on their premises. The goal was for revelers to follow these precautions, dance and have fun without mixing with other groups.

The sector employs 43,000 people

However, their approach did not receive the approval of the authorities, although the sector employs 43,000 people in France and generates annual turnover close to one billion euros. The clubs are not supposed to welcome the public again until September. In the meantime, some adequately equipped places have been advised to transform their premises into bars.

Representatives of disco owners have therefore decided to go to court. This is what they had announced if their arguments were not heard.
