The humorist Manu Payet was the guest of Philippe Vandel, Thursday on Europe 1. He explains in particular the reasons for his arrival on Virgin Radio at the start of the school year to take orders for the morning show, the Virgin Tonic, from 7 am to 10 am , replacing Camille Combal.

It has been twelve years since he installed himself behind a microphone. Manu Payet will join Virgin Radio (owned by the Lagardère group to which Europe 1 belongs) at the start of the school year. The comedian will host the morning radio show, the Virgin Tonic from 7 am to 10 am, replacing Camille Combal. Guest Thursday of Philippe Vandel, in Culture media , Manu Payet explained that it was confinement that convinced him to return to the air, he who had not officiated on the radio since 2008, when he spoke as a regular columnist in On va s'gêner , on Europe 1.

"During confinement, I didn't need a TV, I needed a radio," said the humorist. "There were people who were alone at home during this time, and the radio has regained its primary function of accompaniment. It is not only information, it is a presence." He adds: "I thought it was good to be on the air right now." The rest, it owes it to a happy combination of circumstances: "Camille Combal decided to leave to rest, and I received a charming call which invited me to join the morning show of Virgin."

"The team will remain, complete"

And since we do not change a winning formula, Manu Payet intends to resume the recipes that made the success of Virgin's morning show. "It will be a format that will resemble what is already being done. I hate, on the radio, moving everything. The listener likes to find his bearings," he explains. As a result, the team that accompanied Camille Combal will continue to officiate behind the scenes and around the host. "The team will remain, complete. In the end, it's just me changing. I keep everyone with great pleasure! These are girls and boys who have been there for several years, who know the antenna, the format, the premises. " The comedian admits however not to miss ideas to refresh the format. He still has until August 24 to bring them to maturity.
