DJ Martin Solveig created Alma Studio, an audio story application with no screen for ages 3 to 10. Sixty original stories read by actresses, actors and comedians are available. A concept developed over a year by the musician, as he explains in "Culture Media" on Tuesday.

INTERVIEW

Fans of DJ Martin Solveig did not expect him on this ground. The musician embarked a little over a year ago on a project to apply audio stories without a screen for children from 3 to 10 years old. Original stories for the majority of them, read by a panel of varied artists such as Daniel Mesguich, Virgine Efira or Gad Elmaleh. "Alma Studios was born out of hours spent with my daughter reading stories and listening to a lot of podcasts," said Martin Sloveig on Europe 1 Tuesday.

An application "guided by voice and sound"

"I found that it lacked a kind of interface that would bring everything together and that the children could use alone," observes the DJ. "There are lots of podcasts, but you have to spend a lot of time looking for them, and above all, we cannot leave the children independent with a podcast interface."

Martin Solveig therefore decided to create his dream interface himself. He thus designed an application "where navigation is very simple and guided by voice and sound", he summarizes. The title of the album is announced to the child, who on a tablet, a computer, or a phone, "taps on the image of the album that [he] wants to see and chooses his story in the 'album', guided by voice. Then, "the screen goes black and we listen".

Original stories read by Élie Semoun, Doria Tillier, Gérard Jugnot ...

Aside from Loup Gris (Didier Jeunesse) and Tout bien, tout mal ( Gallimard), "all the other stories are original" and written by "around thirty different authors", specifies the musician. And they are read by actresses, comedians and humorists such as Virginie Efira, Gad Elmaleh, Éric Judor, Élie Semoun, Marie-Anne Chazel, Gérard Jugnot, Clovis Cornillac, Doria Tillier, François Rollin, José Garcia, or even Hakim Jemili.

For his part, Martin Solveig composes "a lot of music for this application" and from time to time, lends his voice to certain characters. "I'm writing my own series," also reveals the producer, without revealing more.

Alma Studios to tell 200 stories by October

Currently, Alma Studios offers 60 stories, for a subscription of eight euros per month without commitment, five euros for a one-year commitment and a week of free trial. "There will be 200 in three months. We add more every Friday," added the producer.

"There is no advertising. It is a completely secure environment. Children are in a bubble made for them," says Martin Solveig. With a single account, you can connect "six devices for the whole family" and up to "six child profiles", details the DJ.
