The new figures from the Directorate General of Health (DGS) fell on Tuesday evening. France has registered 30 new deaths linked to Covid-19, bringing the total to 29,843 in hospitals and institutions for the elderly since the start of the epidemic.

The 30 new deaths announced on Tuesday bring the total number of coronavirus-related deaths to 19,346 in hospitals (+21 in 24 hours), and 10,497 in social and medico-social establishments, including nursing homes, or 9 new deaths in a week.

Always fewer people in intensive care

At the same time, the number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care continues to drop, with 602 patients, 17 less than on Monday. A total of 8,536 people are hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection in France (-152 in 24 hours).

Four regions (Ile-de-France, Grand-Est, Hauts-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) account for 74% of patients hospitalized in intensive care.

Still "worrying" situation in Guyana

The circulation of the virus in Guyana also remains "worrying", underlines the DGS. After a first medical evacuation of two patients to Guadeloupe, "other operations of the same type are being planned".

The virus continues to circulate on the territory, also warned the DGS, noting that 301 “clusters” (grouped cases) have been registered since May 9, including 8 new ones. The authorities remain "attentive" to the appearance of potential clusters, underlines the DGS.

Since the start of the epidemic, 104,620 people have been hospitalized, including 18,374 in intensive care. 76,274 people returned home.
