Strict punishment from today's “driving” Bicycles target June 30 4:08

The revised Road Traffic Law will be enforced from the 30th, with penalties being enforced for imprisonment of up to 5 years or less for dangerous "drifting" that obstructs the passage of other vehicles.

The revised Road Traffic Law stipulates that tilting driving, which has not been defined legally until now, is called "interfering driving," and it will be subject to crackdowns if it creates a danger due to crowding, sudden braking, or persistent horns.

The maximum penalty is imprisonment of up to 5 years or a fine of up to 1 million yen. Furthermore, you will be subject to license revocation due to administrative sanction, and you will not be able to reacquire for a certain period of time.

Also, with this revision, bicycles will be subject to the same severe penalties as cars, and if you are 14 or older, you may be subject to criminal penalties if you are malicious.

According to the National Police Agency, the number of cases arrested for extremely narrowing the inter-vehicle distance was 15065 cases nationwide last year, which is more than 2000 cases over the previous year.

Police nationwide are planning to further strengthen the control of malicious driving.
