The Desautel swimming pool, in the 9th arrondissement, is one of the five swimming pools opened in July. - J. Saint-Marc / 20 Minutes

  • From June 29 until the end of the summer, five pools will be open simultaneously to the public with different slots dedicated to the senior audience, swimmers and families.
  • Between each group, the premises will be disinfected. The capacity is, depending on the swimming pool, from 60 to 100 people simultaneously.

To go to the swimming pool this summer in Marseille, it is better to live ... near the beach. Five of the city's 15 municipal swimming pools will be open to the public simultaneously: Saint Charles, Pointe Rouge, Desautel, Lamartine and René-Magnac in July, and Pointe Rouge (rebelote), Louis Armand, Frais Vallon, Saint-Joseph and René Magnac (rebelote) in August. Or, if our accounts are good, a pool less than last year. For reduced slots due to the health protocol (between each group, the premises are disinfected).

“It's not swimming, it's going to take the lead. "

As of this Monday, the swimming pools reopen for the first time since deconfinement, in "dynamic mode". Concretely, the entries will be made by slots of 1 hour 30 minutes, by wave of 12 people maximum. In the pool, the maximum instantaneous attendance is 100 people at Pointe Rouge and 60 in the other pools. The 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. slot is reserved for people over 65, the 12:30 to 2 p.m. slot for swimmers, and the 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. slot for families.

"There are only a few open swimming pools and the time to move to the right place, that will be short for a lunch break", laments Marilyn who has already had to abandon Vallier, closed for a year just after its reopening. "And if it's to stay in line, without being able to overtake someone ... It's not swimming, it's going to take the lead," sighs this sportswoman. According to the town hall, the dynamic mode implies "the practice of swimming and bathing, and the closing of the solariums".

Operation "I learn to swim"

For Claire Parez, president of the Marseille Dolfin club, there is in any case no risk in bathing in chlorinated water. “The possible concern is not in the basin water, but in the stagnant water around and on the surfaces touched by people, hence the whole cleaning and arrival management protocol. The club will be part of the free operation "J'apprends à nager", for 6-12 year olds, in July at the Frais Vallon swimming pool. Several swimming pools are dedicated to this learning: Frais Vallon therefore, and Saint-Joseph in July, then La Busserine in August. Even if, protocol requires, the club can only accommodate 60 children per week instead of the double usually, "it takes a breath of air," says Claire Parez.

Last year, the Marseilles swimming pools were visited in summer by 55,000 people (out of the 600,000 admissions in the year), with an offer almost as limited. In a recent technical note from the municipal services procured by La Marseillaise , the state of Marseille's swimming pools is described as follows:"Most of the equipment is at the end of its travel, is not very attractive and has a low efficiency. The modernization of eight basins is under study.

Next summer, Marseille should in any case count with the Bombardière swimming pool and the long-awaited one in Vallier which, promises the town hall, should reopen in September.
