More than ten people teamed up for "construction" 1:1 restoration of campus
"The idea of 1:1 restoration of the school scene in "My World" was as early as 2017." Wang Zuo, a graduate of the 2016 Digital Media Art Major of the Communication University of China and the student leader of this activity, introduced at the time A classmate found it very interesting to restore the school scene in the game, so he tried to restore 1/5, and then shelved it for some reason.
In May this year, the graduation "Cloud" defense ended, and affected by the epidemic, the offline graduation exhibition that the college was supposed to hold could not be held normally. When discussing the format for the online graduation exhibition, the project that had been put on hold was put on the agenda again. After confirming the feasibility, the teachers of the college agreed to the project almost immediately, and named this MCUC project.
Sun Guoyu, associate professor of the School of Animation and Digital Art, Communication University of China, was the master planner of this event. Sun Guoyu said that the college has always encouraged students to design graduation exhibitions by themselves. As long as the content is not out of line and meets our professional temperament, we will support it.
The MCUC team "aggregated quickly", and more than ten people including students and teachers formed a "construction team", responsible for restoring the campus scene in the game, and nearly ten students and volunteers formed an advocacy team responsible for the advocacy and promotion of the project .
Wanting to restore the school scene 1:1 is not a simple matter. In addition to the teaching buildings, dormitory buildings, playgrounds, etc. in the school, the team also intends to restore all the streets and subway stations around the school. It's an empty lot."
Wang Zuo introduced that 1:1 restoration must fully consider the scale and other issues, so they refer to the satellite map to determine the "relationship" between each building, and then use the street view map to restore the details of the building. Since the students are not in school, they can only ask the teacher to help "take pictures everywhere" and then perfect the details of the building based on the pictures.
The "construction" process was not so smooth. After completing about 4/5, the team found that a road running through the north and south in the school was "repaired", "We four or five people started to check the problem from 6 o'clock in the evening, check the building ratio, and make modifications until the next morning. Only then amended successfully."
From the idea on May 21 to the live broadcast on the first day of June 16, the MCUC project took less than a month from planning to implementation.
For more than 20 days, the members of the "construction team" spent every day on the game and spent dozens of hours restoring the school scene. With Wang Zuo alone, the previous game time reached 240 hours.
"Flying around" on the student's red carpet, teacher's speech was "onlookers"
The live broadcast will be held on the morning of June 16 and the afternoon of 17th. According to the plan, the MCUC project will present the three links of the exhibition, graduation ceremony and red carpet in the form of webcast.
"The train runs ahead of the Media University subway station." At 9 a.m. on June 16, the live broadcast started from the Beijing University Batong Line Media University subway station built in the game.
Wang Zuo introduced that in order to give everyone a better sense of substitution, the characters in the game were “closed” in the subway that day, and then the doors were opened in a unified manner, and they got off the subway station and entered the school.
The host led the students in the game from the south gate to the campus. At the entrance of the school's small hall, the students received the bachelor's uniform and entered the small hall to wait for the graduation ceremony.
