Since then, the journey time from Lancang Lahu Autonomous County to Meng'a Port in Menglian Dai Lahu and Wa Autonomous County on the China-Myanmar border takes only 1.5 hours.
According to reports, the Lancang-Menglian-Meng'a highway is an important transportation route between Lancang and Menglian. The estimated investment of the project is 3.866 billion yuan, with a design speed of 60 km/h and a total length of 104 km. Among them, Lancang County is 25.5 kilometers long and Menglian County is 78.5 kilometers long.

The construction of the project is divided into two phases. The first phase is from Lancang to Menglian County. The route is 55 kilometers long. It started construction in November 2013 and was completed in December 2017. The second phase of the project is from Menglian to Meng'a section. It is an investment project of ADB. The route is 44.739 kilometers long. It started construction in April 2016 and was completed in June 2020.
Today, the Lancang-Menglian-Meng'a highway has been opened to traffic, reducing the travel time from Lancang to Meng'a port to 1.5 hours. This has greatly improved the local transportation environment and facilitated people to travel.
