Yu Lan, formerly known as Pei Wen, was born on June 3, 1921 in Xiuyan Manchu Autonomous County, Anshan City, Liaoning Province. When Yu Lan was 17 years old, he walked thousands of kilometers with more than ten revolutionary youths to Yan'an, entered the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University, and then entered the Lu Xun Art Troupe and became a drama actor.

In 1949, Yu Lan starred in his first film "White Soldier". In 1952, in the film of the same name "Dragon Beard Gully" adapted from Lao She's novel, Yu Lan successfully shaped the role of Cheng Niangzi. In 1959, she starred as Widow Zhang in "The Lin Family Shop".

In 1961, Yu Lan's performance in "Revolutionary Family" won her the Best Actress Award at the Second Moscow International Film Festival, and was selected as one of the "22 major movie stars" in New China that year.

In the film "Eternal Life in Fire" released in 1965, Jiang Jie, who played by Yu Lan, left the audience with the deepest impression. In the book "Our Acting Career", Yu Lan recalled, "I played Sister Jiang and received high praise from everyone, but I always think that the deeds of the martyrs have touched and educated people. I'm just real The performance of the characters does not mean that he is remarkable."

Yu Lanzeng recalled that Xia Yan provided a lot of help for her success in shaping Jiang Sister, "He said you must not act as Jiang Hujun, she is not Liu Hulan, Liu Hulan is Liu Hulan, Jiang Zhuyun is Jiang Zhuyun, and Jiang Zhuyun is not Zhao. Yi Man. His words inspired me a lot. Now many people see me and say that the sister Jiang I played was too successful, and I said that the way the movie was played is right. Liu Hulan is the daughter of the peasant, Sister Jiang is an intellectual in the city, Zhao Yiman is the instructor of the Anti-Unification, and it is Comrade Xia Yan who helped me and let me truly play them."

After Yu Lan's death, her youngest son Tian Zhuangzhuang wrote on the social platform, "Mom is gone, now your senses no longer work, your heart is independent, naked, clear and in the moment, you have never experienced before, now experience Everything, this is the Buddha." (End)
