Six people were arrested in France in connection with the theft of a work painted by the famous street artist Banksy in the Bataclan as a tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks that took place in that Parisian party hall, according to judicial sources.
The arrests took place last Tuesday in various locations in the country, the suspects were charged two days later and are in police custody, sources said.
They are accused of having participated in the theft of the work painted in 2018 at the emergency door of the party room by the famous British artist, who thus wanted to pay tribute to the 90 people who perished in the place on the night of 13 November 2015.
The robbery took place in the morning from January 25 to 26, 2016 , when the thieves managed to get hold of the prized work by cutting the door with a metal saw.
On June 10, the Italian police announced that they found the play, in a farm in the Abruzzes region, in which Banksy represented a sad-looking female character.
