The spread of videos of Russian Wagner company mercenaries roaming in various Libyan cities has sparked outrage at what activists described as the foreign occupation of Libyan wealth by militias and mercenaries fighting alongside retired Major General Khalifa Hifter.

“Your publication” (27/26/22020) followed the interaction on social media platforms, after the hashtag “Who can speak to them” emerged in the list of the most traded in Libya.

The clip that caused the launching of the marking came from the city of Sokhna, and it shows mercenaries Wagner wandering near the air base of Al-Jafra, and a Libyan citizen complains about the presence of mercenaries in their areas, saying: "Who can talk to them?"

This comes after the entry of the Russian Wagner mercenaries and foreign mercenaries fighting alongside Haftar forces to the Sharara oil field in southern Libya, amid international condemnation of the precedent, which was described as dangerous and aims to prevent the resumption of oil production, according to the head of the National Oil Corporation.

It is mentioned that "Al Sharara" is the largest Libyan oil field with a production rate of 300 thousand barrels per day, out of the total Libyan production of one million barrels per day.

This development was greeted by official Libyan reactions on Twitter, and the Libyan Interior Minister Fathi Pashaga wrote in a series of tweets: "An Arab country that supported war criminal Haftar in his attack on Tripoli, and funded the mercenaries of the Russian Wagner company, is complicit in the crime of locking Libyan oil supplies."

"The mercenaries of the Russian Wagner Company took control of the Sharara oil field, along with a group of Janjaweed. A dangerous precedent towards foreign mercenaries controlling Libyan oil and controlling the wealth of the Libyans," he added.

While Libya's delegate to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, wrote: "Because the Security Council is unable to punish mercenaries such as Wagner, Janjaweed, Haftar and others, who have violated all international resolutions, it is time for America and Europe to impose direct sanctions on these and freeze their assets and those who finance them, as is the case of terrorist entities. ".

For its part, the US embassy in Libya commented through its official account on Facebook in a statement, affirming Washington's support to the National Oil Corporation.

"We share the National Oil Corporation's deep concern about the shameful intervention of the Wagner Group and other foreign mercenaries against the facilities of the National Oil Corporation and its employees in the Sharara oil field, which constitutes a direct attack on Libya's sovereignty and prosperity."

Wagner mercenaries have added anger to the widespread sections of mines and booby traps they left during their withdrawal from Tripoli and other areas, and the threat they pose to the lives of civilians.

The page of the media center for the Operation Volcano Anger on Twitter posted clips showing the continuation of the mine clearance operations that were planted by Haftar and Wagner's forces in the capital.
