The Amazon Prime Video platform unveils a new program this Friday. "True Story" mixes fiction and interview. The concept is simple: personalities are interviewed by duos from YouTubeurs. They confide new, funny and improbable stories, which are then transposed into fiction.

INTERVIEW

Amazon's video platform is launching a new True Story program available this Friday, mixing interview and fiction. On a set, personalities are questioned by duos of YouTubeurs and entrust a truthful anecdote, which will be transposed into fiction. "We have quality guests who come to tell us a new story", summarizes on Europe 1 Natoo, one of the presenters, who has 5.1 million subscribers on YouTube. "We didn't choose YouTubers, we chose artists with multiple talents who know how to shine in fiction as well as in interviews," added Thomas Dubois, director of original programs at Amazon Prime.

Between interviews and fictions

Norman and Cyprien, Natoo and Ludovik and McFly and Carlito will listen to the confession of a panel of guests with funny, but true stories, in the grandiose setting of the headquarters of the Communist Party in Paris. Each duo presents two stories, with the goal of getting as much detail as possible. "We started by looking for celebrities who had funny stories and a little bit unlikely to tell us. Once we identified them, we worked with them to find the best story (...). Following that, once they had done the set part, we worked all the fiction part by wondering what were the somewhat key moments at which we wanted to give new life to images ", explains Thomas Dubois.

"We discovered the guests quite late and we were not aware of the stories to keep them fresh," said Ludovik, who teamed up with Natoo during the interviews. "And we were encouraged in the interviews to bounce back to flesh out the fiction that we were shooting a few weeks later". The presenters play in fiction, alongside other actors. Four authors are used to select the best moments to replay, sometimes by enlarging the line for more humor and fantasy.

A meeting with Mel Gibson in underwear, a marriage that goes wrong

Among the personalities who have agreed to share their unpublished stories, we find Zahia, José Garcia and Antoine de Caunes, Julie Gayet, but also the rapper Fianso, the actor Jonathan Cohen, who recounts an anecdote where he finds himself in underwear facing Mel Gibson, or Olivier and Géraldine Nakache, who return to the failed organization of a marriage which degenerates into a general fight.

After the release this Friday of six episodes on the Amazon Prime platform, the team is already hoping for a season 2. "We will see how people react to the project," says Thomas Dubois.
