The debate between the candidates for mayor of Paris took place Thursday evening on BFMTV, but the showdown continues behind the scenes at NextradioTV. The employees of BFMTV and RMC voted in fact Thursday to resume the strike movement against major job cuts.

During a general meeting, organized at the end of the afternoon, the employees voted for the immediate resumption of the movement until Monday at 9 a.m., with 326 votes out of 465 voters. In addition, 117 voted for a day of strikes on Sunday and 22 voted to end the strike.

About 500 positions cut

A first 24-hour strike was launched on Wednesday within NextradioTV, Altice's media subsidiary, to protest against a savings plan providing for the elimination of around 500 jobs, or one third of the workforce.

With three major demands: no forced departure, the rejection of the removal of half of the freelance and intermittent workers and better social conditions for the remaining employees.

During the discussions, NextradioTV management agreed to "transform its job protection plan into a voluntary departure plan". A gesture towards the strikers, which therefore did not prevent the resumption of the conflict, unprecedented in the history of the Altice subsidiary.
