Guest of the show Sans Rendez-Vous, on Europe 1, Tuesday, Djamel Bouhabib, podiatrist and president of the French Union of Foot Health, gave some advice to take care of his feet.

INTERVIEW

After they ceased operations during confinement, the podiatrists reopened their offices on May 11. Invited Tuesday of Europe 1, Djamel Bouhabib, podiatrist and president of the French Union of the Health of the Foot, noted that the health of the feet had been neglected during these few weeks and therefore gave some advice to take good care of it .

Putting on the right shoes

"The general rule is: never the same shoe," said Tuesday Djamel Bouhabib at the microphone of Europe 1. The podiatrist, also president of the French Union of Foot Health, recommends to alternate between four pairs of shoes. Also avoid too pointed and too high heels, no more than four or five centimeters. Too high heels are bad for the back, the pelvis, the knees, and therefore for the foot. He also warned about the drawbacks of sneakers, which are certainly very comfortable but which prevent the foot from being ventilated. "Sneakers promote the problems of yeast and ingrown toenails," he said.

Cut your nails well

"The nail is used to protect the toe," said Djamel Bouhabib. He therefore recommends cutting his nails every three weeks, using nail clippers, the best tool according to him. "The important thing is to cut the nail as straight as possible, without going into the corners, to avoid ingrown toenails," he explains.

Remove your polish regularly

"A nail covered with varnish is a confined nail: it does not see the light and is not ventilated, so it turns yellow. It therefore becomes brittle, mycoses can also appear. Ideally, the varnish should be removed after a week, "continued Djamel Bouhabib.

Hydrate your feet daily

The podiatrist recommends moisturizing his feet every day. "It is also possible to use a grater or a stone, but not more than once every two weeks," he advises. Because this would accelerate the epidermal regrowth and would therefore only accentuate the problem.
