The humanitarian ship  Ocean Viking  returned to sea on Monday after three months of stoppage linked to the coronavirus health crisis and is heading for Libyan waters to rescue migrants shipwrecked in the Mediterranean.

The ambulance boat chartered by the NGO SOS Mediterranean, which has implemented a strict protocol to avoid the spread of the coronavirus on board, weighed anchor from its home port in Marseille at around 8:30 am and plans to arrive Thursday in this area of ​​the central Mediterranean. The humanitarian ship was due to resume migrants' rescue operations on Saturday but has delayed its return to sea due to weather conditions.
