Singer and actor Justin Timberlake - Armando Gallo / Zuma / Starface

Justin Timberlake took advantage of Father's Day to question the role of men in society, and in particular his role as a dad. The singer, who has a five-year-old son Silas with his wife Jessica Biel, posted a message in which he reveals how he is trying to raise their boy so that he becomes a bulwark against systemic racism.

Boys grow up to be fathers. I think about that a lot these days. We try to teach our son to love and to respect everyone - we teach him that all people are all created equal, and that no one should be treated differently because of the color of their skin. We teach him this because one day, he will go on to teach his kids the same. It's a cycle. And right now, as we all work to undo generations of discrimination that have plagued our system and our communities across this country ... I'm reminded today that the first lessons start at home. Im grateful for both of my dads and my mother for teaching me those lessons from the beginning. And for listening to me when I had something to say that they hadn't learned. I pray for that humility with my own son. I'm grateful for my wife, who made me a father, and is my favorite person / partner / teacher / friend in all of it. I'm grateful for my son, who is always ALWAYS teaching me right back. ⠀ ⠀ Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. While we owe our sons and daughters these lessons in the places where the doors close at night, I hope you are as inspired as I am to make them THE TRUTH in the places that same door opens every morning and we send them out to discover. There's more to do. And we are built for it. After all, we are the Dads. Sending my love to you and yours.

“Boys grow up to be fathers. I've been thinking about this a lot in recent days. We are trying to bring up our son so that he loves and respects everyone - we teach him that all people are equal, and that no one should be treated differently because of the color of their skin. We teach him that because one day he will teach his children the same thing. It's a cycle, ”explained the interpreter of Cry Me A River , before thanking his own parents. “I am grateful to my father and mother who taught me these lessons from the start. And to have listened to me when they had things to learn from me. I pray for the same humility with my son. "

Be inspired

Justin Timberlake then spoke to all fathers around the world to encourage them to make their children curious and enthusiastic about the world.

"I wish a happy Father's Day to all the dads. We owe our sons and daughters these lessons, but I hope you will be inspired, like me, and that you will want to make them understand the truth, which is that all doors open in the morning and that they it's up to you to discover everything. There are even more things to do. We are made for that. We are the Fathers. I send you all my love, as well as to your families, ”he posted solemnly.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel married in 2012 and welcomed their first (and only) child in 2015. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the family has been confined to Montana.
