Actor Gerard Butler - Zuma / Starface

Gerard Butler embarks on a whole new project but without straying from the paths he usually walks. The actor from La Chute du Président will once again team up with his favorite director, Ric Roman Vaugh, for Kandahar . According to The Hollywood Reporter , the film will be co-written by filmmaker and former intelligence officer Mitchell LaFortune, who based the story on his own experience in the Middle East at the time of Edward Snowden's revelations.

The feature will feature Gerard Butler as a CIA spy undercover in Afghanistan, whose mission and identity are exposed. He is then forced to infiltrate while trying to escape the elite forces launched in pursuit.

Long wait

Kandahar is one of the big blockbusters presented this year at Virtual Cannes Market, the “virtual” film market, which replaces the Cannes festival. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, which is hampering the shooting of the vast majority of films in production in Hollywood, it is not yet known when the work can start for this thriller.

We know in any case that the shots will be taken in the Middle East. Kandahar will be produced by Thunder Road Films, already behind John Wick and Sicario films . Perhaps the start of a new franchise for the Scottish actor?
