The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that it has finally finalized 12 kinds of 3 warning pictures to be attached to cigarette packs from December 23rd after deliberation by the National Health Promotion Policy Deliberation Committee.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare decided to strengthen the warning effect by replacing the picture every two years while implementing the'warning picture display system' on December 23, 2016.
The new warning picture is 9 out of 12, and lung cancer, oral cancer lesions, and tooth discoloration photos have been used to clearly communicate the harmful effects of smoking.

In addition, heart disease, premature death, smoking of pregnant women, secondhand smoke, etc. were selected as the subjects of the warning picture.

“The replacement of cigarette pack warning pictures and phrases will provide a clear reminder of the harmful effects of cigarettes,” said Seong-woong Na, director of the Health Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Welfare.
