AODQ today highlights a woman… a Senegalese musician. Her name is Ma Khoudia Keita. Khoudia has albinism, but does not consider it a handicap.

Publicity

On the contrary, it is a force for it. A force that she is trying to transmit to other people with albinism in her country, Senegal.

His fight is not simple. Albinism is a genetic disease that induces skin and hair depigmentation, sometimes linked to major visual impairment. In Africa, this disease conveys archaic beliefs and prejudices that sometimes go as far as killing the sick. According to data from the World Health Organization, its incidence varies from 1 in 5,000 to 15,000 in sub-Saharan Africa.

Ma Khoudia wants to fight against stigma and boost the self-esteem of albino people through his passions, music, fashion, but also and above all through his association Albino Care.
