Sheng Zhiwen recently said at the "Unity Drow Forum" organized by the Unity Hong Kong Fund that Hong Kong's national security legislation will not affect the lives and freedoms of Hong Kong people, and will bring a more ideal and stable business environment to Hong Kong, especially in the past For a while, a series of demonstrations stopped many businesses.
He said that China needs a place like Hong Kong. When the mainland opens to the outside world, Hong Kong is the door of the mainland to the world, and it also allows the world to reach the mainland. This is Hong Kong's advantage. Hong Kong continues to develop and is the world's number one financial services industry, becoming a place where everyone wants to go public.
Sheng Zhiwen said that he has witnessed the changes of Hong Kong over the years. In recent years, many painful things have happened in Hong Kong, and he is no longer like the Hong Kong he is familiar with. "It's like parents watching their children go astray." He said that fighting in the streets, destroying businesses, blocking roads and other behaviors prevented people from going out, and Hong Kong's economy was also hit hard.
He mentioned that in the past few months, the Police Department of the SAR Government has cracked multiple explosives cases. This is a very serious crime, which is terrorism, plus the intervention of some external forces. Hong Kong’s current laws are insufficient to deal with these situations, so Hong Kong’s national security legislation has its urgency.
Sheng Zhiwen said that Macao has already enacted Article 23 of the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region, which has not affected the lives of Macao residents. Everything is as usual, and I believe that the relevant laws are implemented in Hong Kong. He emphasized that if people did not break the law, there was no need to worry.
Sheng Zhiwen said that China is today one of the world's leading countries, which is what the United States is worried about, so the United States is constantly attacking China. Unfortunately, Hong Kong is used by the United States to crack down on China, including the abolition of Hong Kong's status as an independent customs zone.
