Here, as every year, is the Official Selection of short films that will compete in the 2020 Cannes Film Festival Competition". With a certain insolence, the biggest cinema meeting in the world sent its press release this Friday June 19 around 2 p.m. So after canceling the competition for feature films, creating a “Cannes 2020” label instead, and explaining for weeks why it doesn't make sense to keep the competition and the Palme d'Or ritual going, organizers are pleased to declare today : “The Short Film Competition, at the end of which the Palme d'Or will be awarded by the Jury, will take place next fall, in Cannes, in the Palais des Festival. The date of the event, as well as the composition of the Jury, will be announced very soon.  "

This year, 3,810 filmmakers from 137 countries sent their short films. Among the eleven directors in the running, Africa is doing well with Sameh Alaa from Egypt, with I am afraid to forget your face . The only animated film is made in France, directed by Marie Jacotey and Lola Halifa-Legrand:  Blue girls, white fear . Theo Montoya from Colombia was selected with his documentary  Son of Sodom . And even a film from Mongolia is part of this selection that will go down in history: Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir will present  Shiluus .

Compared to gender, the Festival highlights the fact that there are five directors among the lucky ones and that the short film selection committee is made up of six women and five men.
