Caricatures in their view

The painter, Mohammed Al-Qahtani, said that, for him, the caricature art is a natural juice that consists of basic elements, which are summed up in laughter, smell, opinion and other opinion.

The painter Amal Al-Baqshi confirmed that the caricatures are a frame that includes the image and the speech, and that it carries a special symbolic message that may exceed the boundaries of the frame of the drawing itself.

The artist Zainab Dashti also indicated that she is trying, through caricatures, to describe the conditions of financial markets and express the situation of their traders.

Cartoons and resistance to normalization

After reminding the presenter that Kuwait was the "birthplace" of the well-known "Handala" character, Al-Qahtani stressed that the cartoonists in Kuwait were completely biased since ancient times for the Palestinian cause, and their supporters against the Zionist occupation are like the rest of the people.

In turn, Dashti reminded of the existence of a law in Kuwait passed by parliament that criminalizes normalization with the "Zionist entity."

Kuwaiti women and cartoons

Regarding the secret of women storming into the cartoon world in Kuwait, Al-Baqshi said that the woman’s advanced learning and openness to other cultures of the world is one of the factors that encourage her to express her opinion in different and creative ways, in addition to the freedom of the press available in Kuwait.

In turn, Dashti considered that during the last ten years, there was a big shift in cartoonists, especially with the emergence of the social networking platform Twitter, which facilitated the integration of women in this artistic field, noting the establishment of the first women's cartoon exhibition in the Arab world in 2018 under the title "Kuwaiti Kuwaiti women".
