The health crisis linked to the coronavirus epidemic has greatly disrupted air traffic, causing numerous flight cancellations. Rather than reimbursing customers, many airlines offer vouchers.
The French government also invites travelers to favor this option, which regrets the association UFC-Que Choisir, in a ticket published by its president on Tuesday.
Spain defends travelers
The consumer association criticizes the action of the government, "which shows a deafening silence on the subject" and calls on it to "position and enforce the law instead of being accomplice by inaction of the violation of the rights ”. European regulations provide that travelers who so wish can be reimbursed, and the European Commission also requests states to enforce them. Airlines are 57 to have been formal notice. Twenty of them have even been sued, including Air France.
In Spain, the government has taken the lead by putting 17 airlines on notice. Travelers who had already received a voucher and who now wish to be reimbursed will also be able to request it, reports UFC-Que Choisir.
