The Brocéliande forest, in Brittany. - ARDEA / MARY EVANS

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, many French people should be tempted not to go too far this summer. Among the expected destinations, Brittany of course. With the possibility of offering a maximum of nature, and why not a little mythology. For lovers of the genre, head for the Paimpont forest, in Ille-et-Vilaine, which would be the source of inspiration for the legendary Brocéliande forest. Arthur, Merlin, the fairy Viviane ... The imagination will be satiated in the middle of century-old trees and enigmatic ruins.

Extending over 7,000 hectares, the forest can be visited on foot, by bike or on horseback, and allows you to see, in addition to (very potential) Arthurian characters, many animals. Be careful, however, to be well informed about the hunting periods and the parts accessible to the public of the forest before entering it. Want to know more ?
