In an effort to disobey orders and look great, some young people and teenagers violate the rules that require wearing masks in public places, and they pressure their friends to follow their example.

"In general, young adults reject everything they are required to do mainly during adulthood," says family therapist Kira Lippmann of Munich, Germany.

The more parents insist that these young people do something, the more likely they will do the exact opposite.

And she adds, "Thus, the muzzle is a great way for many young people to show their feeling which means saying (I am against this), as the most daring young man in the group acquires the greatest reputation."

Another element is that many of these young people are interested in their outward appearance, how others perceive them, and the muzzle is not appropriate for the face to look better, especially when the "Instagram" application focuses more on appearance, it is difficult to accept its concealment.

"During adulthood, it is almost impossible to reach the part of the brain that is responsible for logical and reasonable behavior," Liebman explains.

Parents, on the other hand, should note if they themselves are a role model to wear a muzzle, do they include it in their daily lives? Or do they express their anger because they cannot breathe while wearing it? All of these factors affect the behavior of young people, and she continues: "Young people do not always do what parents say, but rather they do what parents do."

The family affairs expert recommends that parents avoid quarrels with adolescents because of the muzzle, as “most parents will be losers, either because they surrender or impose excessive punishment, and the two will lead to more damage to the relationship between the father and the teenager than it benefits.”

Third party response

The family expert, Kira Lippman, argues that for young people who do not respond to parents ’discussions, it is likely that there will be an effect of taunting them at school or in the store,“ as long as it is not on the parents ’side.”

Kira Liebmann:

"In general, young people generally refuse everything they are required to do during adulthood."
